Birmingham City fight back to claim all three points at St. Andrews @ Knighthead Park after an eventful afternoon in the second city.
Luck plays a massive part in football and it is fair to say that Peterborough United have not had their fair share so far this season with deflected efforts and controversial goals being part of the fixtures and it was exactly the same for Darren Ferguson's men at promotion favourites Birmingham City.
After racing into a 2-0 lead thanks to Ricky-Jade Jones and Emmanuel Fernandez, Willum Willumsson pulled a goal back before the break and then the equaliser was extremely fortuitous with Jay Stansfield's shot, which was heading for a throw-in, striking Oscar Wallin and rebounding into the back of the net.
While there was a lot of frustration around the nature of the winner in terms of switching off at a short corner, the way it found the back of the net had an element of fortune for the hosts as it appeared to strike the hand of Krystian Bielik before deflecting off the back of Hector Kyprianou.
It was JONES who opened the scoring inside the opening four minutes as he closed down goalkeeper Peacock-Farrell with the goalkeeper firing his clearance at the front man.
Posh doubled the lead from the resulting corner following another Jones chance as his pace and power saw him burst into the box, only to be denied by the keeper with FERNANDEZ powering home a Jadel Katongo set-piece.
The home side pulled a goal back through WILLUMSSON who tucked a volley past Steer from close-range after a left-wing centre.
The Blues levelled the scores three minutes into the second half with Stansfield's effort striking Wallin before finding the bottom corner of Steer's net.
Paik curled wide from the edge of the box and Stansfield was a whisker away with a powerful drive as the Blues got on top. Wright came close before Posh found an attacking threat at the other end, with a succession of corners.
On 66 minutes, Birmingham nudged ahead as a short corner kick routine caught out Ferguson's men and BIELIK with the aid of his arm and a deflection found the back of the net at the back post.
Steer kept out a deflected effort from Willumsson late on as Posh were beaten by a team you would expect to secure an immediate return to the Championship.
