Posh suffer another defeat on the road as Bristol Rovers secure three points following a 3-1 home success.
It was another disappointing day on the road for Peterborough United as Bristol Rovers belied their league position to secure a comfortable 3-1 home win at the Memorial Stadium as Darren Ferguson's men failed to build on the midweek victory over Wigan Athletic.
It was a familiar story on the road as Posh gave away sloppy goals and failed to find any quality in the attacking third with Gustav Lindgren's miss at 0-0 an indication of the frustration.
Perhaps a sign to come was a chance inside the opening two minutes for the Pirates as they raided down the right and created a chance on the turn for Hutchinson, but Bilokapic did well to save.
Chris Conn-Clarke had two efforts from range that were saved by Josh Griffiths before a terrible back pass from Ward presented Lindgren with the chance to open the scoring, but he fired horribly wide with his left-foot.
From the first corner kick of the game, the home side got the breakthrough as the in-swinging delivery was tapped home by skipper WILSON.
Conn-Clarke fired wide on the volley with his left-foot and saw a low strike gathered by Griffiths with Ricky-Jade Jones also getting a shot on target after cutting inside from the left.
Posh made two changes at the break with Cian Hayes lively in the opening minutes but on 62 minutes, the hosts doubled their lead as HUTCHINSON poked the ball past Bilokapic and into the corner.
Bilokapic did well to keep out substitute Martin on 74 minutes before Hayes clipped the top of the crossbar with a deflected effort after a low ball into the box by Edun.
Conn-Clarke was superbly denied by the fingertips of Griffiths following an Edun corner as the game moved into the final 10 minutes but on 83 minutes, the hosts added a third on the break through as Ruel SOTIRIOU raced clear, chopped inside Katongo and found the corner.
JONES did find a consolation on 89 minutes as he back-heeled in from close-range after a cross from Mothersille caused panic.
The disappointing day was compounded when Katongo pulled up in the cool-down after the 90 minutes with an apparent reoccurrence of a hamstring injury.
