Action between Posh and Wrexham

A late header from substitute Steven Fletcher secured Wrexham all three points as a spirited defensive effort from Posh was unrewarded.

Peterborough United put their bodies on the line and defended manfully at promotion-hopefuls Wrexham, but were ultimately undone by a header from substitute Steven Fletcher who came off the bench to head home three minutes from time to secure a 1-0 victory for the hosts.

It was a game of few chances in front of goal, with the clearest opportunity falling to Darren Ferguson's men as Cian Hayes' cross struck Chris Conn-Clarke, but with ultimately not enough force to see the ball drop over the goal-line.

Paul Mullin curled a free-kick over the bar and sent a speculative volley over the crossbar from long-range, but aside from those half-chances, the first half was a stalemate.

Conn-Clarke was sent clear in the second half in the right hand channel, but chose to pull the ball back rather than shoot and the chance was gone.

Fletcher headed over from a left-wing centre and Mendy sent two curlers over the crossbar as the home side pressed for the breakthrough.

That breakthrough came three minutes from time as FLETCHER guided a header past Bilokapic and into the back of the net.
