Cian Hayes scored his first league goals for Posh as Darren Ferguson's men ran out 4-3 winners over Crawley Town at the Weston Homes Stadium.
Football isn't for the faint hearted, but when all is said and done, three points is what matters and Peterborough United pocketed the maximum after a rollercoaster of an afternoon at the Weston Homes Stadium with Darren Ferguson's men eventually running out 4-3 winners over Crawley Town.
Winger Cian Hayes netted twice, both classy efforts while Ricky-Jade Jones and Hector Kyprianou were on target, while Malik Mothersille made it 10 goal contributions for the season with the assist for the final goal of the afternoon.
On nine minutes, Posh carved out the first opportunity of the game with Kyprianou's effort beaten away by Wollocott before a bit of pinball in the six-yard box which led to nothing.
Emmanuel Fernandez saw a fierce shot beaten away by the keeper before Posh opened the scoring as JONES raced clear, rounded the goalkeeper and found the back of the net from a tight angle.
On 22 minutes, Posh doubled the lead and it was a superb individual effort from HAYES who collected the ball from deep, ran at the defence, cut inside and found the back of the net for his first league goal for the club.
Jones had a chance to make it 3-0 moments later, before the Reds pulled a goal back through ADEYEMEO from close-range. Bilokapic kept out a swerving shot from Darcy before the break as Crawley ended the half strongly.
Two minutes into the second half, Posh added a third as skipper KYPRIANOU hooked home from close-range after Wollocott had kept out a shot from Katongo.
Mothersille saw a shot repelled by Wollocott before SWAN reduced the arrears for Crawley and then the visitors levelled as SHOWUNMI slid home at the back post from a deep cross.
On the hour mark, Posh got their noses back in front as HAYES finished clinically after a good run and pass from Mothersille. Bilokapic kept out a shot from Forster while Fernandez and substitute Ryan De Havilland came close.
Hepburn-Murphy sliced a shot wide on the break while Mothersille was kept out by Wollocott while Hayes was denied a hat-trick as his low strike was straight at the keeper.
