Bolu Shofowoke was at the double as Posh Under 18s fell to defeat at the hands of Hull City on Saturday afternoon.
Posh Under 18s ended the year in defeat as respective Lucas Dawson and Ramell Carter braces cancelled out Shofowoke’s well-taken double on Humberside.
Jimmy Unwin elected to five changes from last time out; Ben Westcott, Luke Gilbert, George Holley and Benji McWilliams-Marcano all returned to the side which set out in East Yorkshire.
The hosts raced into the lead on ten minutes when Lucas DAWSON was on hand to turn in a neat City move.
Zac Jagielka looked intent on adding to the hosts tally four minutes later when his effort was denied by the woodwork.
Posh grew back into the game and found themselves level as SHOFOWOKE guided the ball home past Jake Hopper on 21 minutes.
The momentum was with Posh from then-on, Shofowoke had an effort shovelled away by Hopper to deny the frontman his second on half-hour.
Posh were quick out the blocks in the second period which saw Patryk Sykut’s effort met superbly by the Hull ‘keeper.
At the other end, DAWSON offered some respite as the City man was teed up for a simple finish by Joe Batty to restore the host's lead.
Posh hit back and levelled proceedings on 53 minutes when SHOFOWOKE was on hand to grab his second of the afternoon with a smart finish.
City posed their own threat on the hour mark when Stan Hewitt angled his effort wide of the target, before the pressure told as CARTER guided the ball past Westcott.
Posh looked to find a route back into the game as Sykut set his sights on goal, but it was City who would have the ball in the net next as CARTER put a seal on the Tigers’ victory.
