Peterborough United Under 18s produced a performance to remember as they recorded a 4-0 win over Birmingham City in the Professional Development League.

Eddie Fox set the youngsters on their way when he struck late into the first half, before the midfielder completed his brace midway into the second period with Andre Changunda and Joe Davies finding the net on either side to ensure last year’s champions would leave PE2 empty-handed.

Jimmy Unwin kept faith with the bulk of the line-up which were defeated at Barnsley last time out - Luke Gilbert was the only alteration who came in to replace Fabian Claxton.

Bolu Shofowoke had the first clear opportunity on four minutes when the forward rounded Szymon Terenowicz, but his effort was well-blocked by the recovering Blues defender.

Posh were rewarded for their strong attacking play with a chance to convert from the spot after George Holley was upended inside the penalty area, but Joe Davies’ strike was kept out by Terenowicz who saved low to his left.

Davies was involved once more on 25-minutes when his audacious attempt was tipped over the bar once more by the Blues stopper. Patryk Sykut was next to be presented with an opportunity after his strike was palmed away by Terenowicz.

Posh hit the front late into the first half when FOX cut onto his left-foot and arrowed a shot into the bottom corner.

Posh resumed with renewed energy in the second period and doubled their lead from the spot when CHANGUNDA slotted home from 12-yards.

George Wynne had a chance to reduce the deficit soon after, but he couldn’t capitalise on the Blues’ first opportunity of the afternoon.

Davies had the chance to add a third on 66-minutes when his effort was well-stopped by Terenowicz. The resulting set-piece saw FOX net his second - and Posh’s third - with a clever header inside the visitor's penalty area.

DAVIES would add a fourth for Posh late on when he was on hand to pick out the bottom corner from distance.

Posh Under 18s will turn their attention to the FA Youth Cup tie on Wednesday (7pm) at the Weston Homes Stadium with local rivals Northampton Town providing the opposition.
