Posh fall to Wolves defeat.
Peterborough United's nightmare start to the league campaign continued as Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed a routine 2-0 victory at London Road thanks to a goal in each half.Lee Tomlin side-footed wide of the target from long-range on three minutes after a patient build-up from the boy's in blue. Ikeme was called into action on 10 minutes as he gathered a swerving effort from midfielder Grant McCann.
Bobby Olejnik made his first save on 24 minutes as he comfortably denied Karl Henry, whose curler was routine for the Posh shot-stopper. He made another save on 27 minutes to deny Ebanks-Blake's 30-yard drive.
Posh put the best move of the first half together on the half hour mark as Tomlin picked out Little, whose cross picked out Barnett, but his glancing header went wide. However, after a mistake from McCann, the visitors were given the chance to take the lead.
The midfielder lost the ball and in his determination to get the ball back, he tripped Doyle and EBANKS-BLAKE stepped up and fired the spot-kick down the middle to give Wolves the lead. Olejnik did well to push a fierce close-range effort from Doyle over the crossbar on 40 minutes.
Kane Ferdinand was introduced in the second half and his tackle set Mendez-Laing away but he delayed and his eventual effort was blocked and then smothered by Ikeme.
Ikeme made an even better stop on 52 minutes as his fingertips denied Barnett after an excellent run from Tomlin. At the other end, Sako had several efforts that went wide of the target as Wolves tried to stretch their lead.
Jannai Gordon was introduced by manager Darren Ferguson with the teenage striker joining Barnett and Mendez-Laing in attack.
George Boyd's speculative volley went wide of the target on 80 minutes before the visitors made it 2-0 as substitute SIGURDARSON clipped the ball over the advancing Olejnik.
