Posh boss pleased to be at home on Boxing Day and is excited by the fixture.
Peterborough United entertain Chesterfield at the ABAX Stadium on Boxing Day (3pm) and manager Graham Westley is delighted that his team will be at home on the day after Christmas.
Westley, who also confirmed his players will not be training on Christmas Day but will be completing individual programmes at home, believes the traditional Boxing Day fixtures are always eagerly anticipated.
'Everybody is different in the way people do things. My take on Christmas was set when I was a player. Quite often on Christmas Day I would go into the training ground following a long drive and we would do something like touch-rugby for 20 minutes and then it would be a long drive home to see the family.
'It set the scene for me, so many players have families to see all over the country and although your job is the absolute priority and to be right for Boxing Day is top of the agenda, I personally believe to get the best out of the team you do not want them travelling miles and miles the day before the game.
'My lads will have a session to do at 10am on Christmas Day at home, we exchange messages once that is completed at around 11.30 and then the focus is on spending time with their loved ones. Touch wood, I have always had a decent record on Boxing Day.
'We are looking forward to the game against Chesterfield. It is great to be at home on Boxing Day. I said that you always want to be home in the cup competitions and it is the same on Boxing Day for me. I was talking to a season ticket holder in the Club Shop the other day and he had bought tickets for his family and I think everyone is excited about this football team at the minute,' Westley said.
Tickets can be purchased for the game at www.theposhtickets.com, via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 847 1934 or in person at the ABAX Stadium Box Office.
