Posh Pick Up Point
Peterborough United picked up a point from a tricky Sky Bet League One clash at Fleetwood Town, but will be disappointed not to take all three after taking the lead through a fine strike from Joe Newell - his second goal of the campaign.Darren Ferguson's men made a bright start at Highbury, forcing two early corners before a dipping Marcus Maddison free-kick was clawed away from danger by Fleetwood goalkeeper Chris Maxwell.
Nick Haughton clipped a shot wide of the target on seven minutes for the Cod Army. Posh had the ball in the back of the net on 10 minutes as Washington fed James who coolly slotted past Maxwell, but the offside flag cut short the celebrations.
Crainey was booked for a foul off the ball on James on 18 minutes with Maddison firing the resulting free-kick over the crossbar.
Haughton curled a free-kick wide of the near post after a foul by Beautyman 30-yards from goal. One minute of added time was indicated by the fourth official, but nothing happened of note during that period.
On 54 minutes, Scott Loach made his first stop of the afternoon, diving to his right to smother a low drive from Gareth Evans.
On 57 minutes, Posh made their first change as Jack Payne replaced Jermaine Anderson in central midfield. James saw a shot smothered by Maxwell on the hour mark after he was sent clear on the angle by Smith.
Three minutes after the hour, Posh got themselves in front and what a strike it was. Joe NEWELL cut inside onto his right-foot and powered home an unstoppable shot past Maxwell and into the back of the net.
The excellent Haughton fired wide on the volley from just inside the box for the home side as they tried to get back into proceedings. Loach did well to smother at the feet of Ball on 70 minutes after a clever header from Proctor.
The home side levelled the scores on 77 minutes as a cross into the box by McLaughlin was headed home from six-yards unchallenged by captain Mark ROBERTS.
Aaron Mclean replaced Washington in attack for the final five minutes. Proctor clipped the bar after a forceful run from Hunter as Posh desperately clung on.
Maddison stung the palms of Maxwell with a swerving shot on 86 minutes.
