Posh Manager Dave Robertson and assistant Grant McCann will face Arsenal Celebs team on Sunday
The Mick George Arena, home of Peterborough Northern Star, will play host to a clash between Posh Legends and the Arsenal Charity Celebrity team which is packed full of TV stars and former gunners.
Former Big Brother Winner Sam Evans will also be playing for the Posh with Dave and Grant.
Posh supporters will get to see their idols of old as they take on the Gunners to raise money for Peterborough United’s Deaf Football project. Mascot Peter Burrow will also be making an appearance.
As well as the main match, which kicks off at 1pm, football fans will also be able to see Great Britain’s Deaf team in action as they take on the hosts Northern Star. GB won the Bronze Medal in the European Championships held in Germany in June, losing out to eventual winners Turkey in the final.
Another top performing side, Peterborough United’s Amputee team, will be taking on the deaf team in a 7-a-side exhibition match. The amputees have recently joined Peterborough United as a group after winning the national amputee league and cup last season.
Andy Palmer, the organiser of the event said: “This is a day for football fans and their families to enjoy the sport, have some food and enjoy the action.
“We’re privileged to have international footballers and national champions coming down and some greats from the Posh and Arsenal coming along to support the cause and have some fun.”
As well as just watching the game, there will be lots for people to do including a penalty competition, a speed gun goal to find Peterborough’s fastest shot, bouncy castle, face painting and other football activities.
Gates open at 11am with the first match, deaf players vs amputee players kicking off at 11:30. Posh Legends and Arsenal will be on at 1pm.
The event is being organised to raise money for Peterborough United’s deaf football project which has provided accessible coaching to over 50 players in the last season.
The under 13s team are the current national deaf children’s champions and the adult team are preparing for their first season in the national deaf league and cup competitions. Funds raised from the event will also be used to purchase kit for the amputee team for their forthcoming season.
It’s just £4 to get in to the Mick George Arena, home of Peterborough Northern Star and the doors open at 11am with the Posh Legends taking to the field at 1pm.
