The Posh development team suffer unlucky defeat to local rivals.
The Peterborough United second string were beaten 4-2 by local rivals Northampton Town at the Mick George Training Academy on a wet Tuesday afternoon with Marcus Maddison and Jack Baldwin both completing 90 minutes as they near full fitness after long injury lay-offs.
Maddison went close to scoring on numerous occasions in a lively display while Baldwin was excellent at the back, making notable interceptions and reading the game expertly.
After falling behind early to a toe-poked effort, Posh soon levelled with midfielder Kieran Sadlier heading home a Tobi Adebayo-Rowling cross from close-range.
Jonny Edwards put Posh ahead with a clinical finish after good work from Sadlier on the left as Posh went into the break in front.
Andrew Fox and Edwards were both replaced at the break with Northampton equalising with a superb free-kick from 25-yards.
The visitors added two late goals with excellent finishes from the edge of the box while Posh had a number of opportunities in front of goal themselves, Harry Beautyman, Leonardo Da Silva and Maddison all denied.
Posh: Henry, Adebayo-Rowling, Fox (sub Lee), Maslen-Jones (sub Goode), Baldwin, Sadlier (sub Moore), Trialist, Beautyman, Da Silva Lopes, Edwards (sub Friend), Maddison.
