Posh Suffer Home Loss To Scunthorpe
Peterborough United suffered a home defeat to Scunthorpe United at the ABAX Stadium as two second half goals condemned Graham Westley's men to back to back losses.Posh struggled to create any clear cut opportunities aside from an Aaron Williams effort in the second period and were beaten by two close-range goals, the first of which an own goal by Ricardo Almeida Santos.
Posh had appeals for a penalty kick turned down on five minutes as Maddison took a tumble in the box following a clever Oztumer pass.
Wootton planted a header wide of the target after he got up ahead of Beautyman at the back post as the Iron came close to a breakthrough on 24 minutes.
Almeida Santos sent an ambitious curler from distance wide of the target as the game reached the half hour mark.
Angol was cautioned for appearing to win the ball on 37 minutes, but a free-kick was awarded by the official. Townsend took the resulting free-kick, but cleared the crossbar.
Da Silva Lopes was denied by Daniels on 41 minutes after an excellent Beautyman cross as Posh came close to opening the scoring.
Taylor headed a last minute corner over the bar before the referee brought an end to the first period.
Posh made a double change at the break with Aaron Williams and Callum Chettle replacing Oztumer and Taylor. A glorious pass from Maddison found Williams racing clear on an angle on 49 minutes, but his low drive was parried by Daniels before it was hacked clear.
On 51 minutes, the visitors opened the scoring as a low Clarke centre was turned past his own keeper on the stretch by Ricardo Almeida SANTOS.
Wootton was denied by Tyler on 53 minutes as the Iron tried to double their advantage. Maddison saw a free-kick well held by Daniels after Wallace was booked for pulling down the Posh winger.
Adelakun squandered a good chance to double the lead after a poor Beautyman header, but he tamely stabbed the ball straight at Tyler.
Williams fired wide on 65 minutes as Fox was dispossessed over on the far side. The visitors doubled their lead on 75 minutes and it was a repeat of the first goal, a simple run and cross down the right, this time by Madden and his cross was headed home at the near post by the substitute HOPPER.
Maddison saw a curler on 82 minutes well held by goalkeeper Daniels as the game petered towards a conclusion.
