Manager Grant McCann is excited by the start of the new season.
Peterborough United open their Sky Bet League One campaign at Rochdale on Saturday (3pm) and manager Grant McCann is excited for the competitive action to get underway.
The Posh boss, who spoke to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire for a big preview piece to be aired ahead of the game, believes it will be a tough start at Spotland but admits he can't wait to get started.
"I am as excited now as I was when I was a player and I can't wait to get started. The pre-season campaign was well structured, we had some tough games, but it was geared to replicate what we are going to expect in the first month of the campaign.
"There are a lot of Saturday, Tuesday matches and that is why we had the friendly matches on the days that we did. I don't take too much notice of the results in pre-season, but we picked up some good wins over Championship sides and showed two different sides of our game.
"Pre-season is over now though and we can concentrate on what lies in front of us and the focus is Rochdale. We won't be looking ahead of ourselves, preparation for the Wimbledon cup-tie will start as soon as the Rochdale game is over.
"It is a new challenge for me as a manager, but it is one that I am looking forward to. I think everyone knows the style of football that I want to play, I want us to score lots of goals and my recruitment in the summer has seen a number of defensive players come into the club. I want our attacking players to have the confidence to get forward and I feel they will have that even more this season," McCann said.
