Posh boss Grant McCann will not be resting any of his players for AFC Wimbledon tie.
Peterborough United entertain Sky Bet League One rivals AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the EFL Cup at the ABAX Stadium on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) and boss Grant McCann will not be resting any of his players for the tie.
The Posh boss confirmed he wants to progress as far as he can in the competition and will pick his strongest available starting XI.
"I won't be resting anyone. The way the pre-season schedule was structured was designed so that the players are ready for the quick turnaround of Saturday, Tuesday games. I will pick my strongest available starting line-up as I want to go as far as we can in the competition.
"The only player who will definitely miss out from the weekend will be Ryan Tafazolli. He has a tight hamstring. I think we have caught it before any real damage but he will go for a scan and have an injection so he can return to training on Thursday.
"Michael Bostwick came on for Ryan at Rochdale and defended very well and is a good example of why we have strength in depth in the squad," McCann said.
Brad Inman and Lee Angol are the only other absentees in the squad with Michael Smith returning to training on Monday.
"Michael is fit and available for selection. I think the game just came too quick for him on Saturday. I thought Hayden White was excellent on Saturday and I have said that if the players in possession of the shirt play well then they will keep the shirt and Michael will have a tough job to get back in the team if Hayden keeps his performance level like that," McCann concluded.
Tickets are available for the tie at www.theposhtickets.com, via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 847 1934* and in person at the ABAX Stadium Box Office.
