Posh begin their Sky Bet League One campaign at Rochdale.
Peterborough United open the new Sky Bet League One season with a trip to Spotland to face Rochdale (3pm), the third campaign in a row that Keith Hill's men have provided the opposition for Posh.
Posh were beaten 2-0 by Rochdale last season while a Kyle Vassell goal earned all three points the season before.
Manager Grant McCann is without the services of striker Lee Angol and summer signing Brad Inman due to long-term injuries, but aside from those two, Posh have a fully fit squad to choose from for the contest.
Goalkeeper Ben Alnwick, who missed the defeat to Barnsley due to illness, is available for selection while full-back Michael Smith is also expected to return after a slight injury.
McCann knows it is a tough start for his side. "Rochdale are a good side, but so are we and that is what I told the players. We know what they are all about and we know that they have some decent players.
"Keith Hill's side are always difficult to play against and they have always started season's well, but we are looking forward to the game and can't wait to get started.
"I think everyone knows how I want to play the game, it’s the only way I know how to play football. It’s the way I played the game and it’s the way I will be as a manager.
"My job initially is to get the players believing in themselves so they can play with confidence and freedom. We have a talented squad and I want them to show it every time they step on the field," McCann said.
No tickets have been sold for this fixture in advance, it is all pay on the day at Spotland.
