The deadlock in this contest came on 25 seconds and what a goal it was too, Coulthirst picked out NICHOLS, he exchanged passes with Taylor and guided the ball into the bottom corner to give Grant McCann's men the lead.
O'Neil was cautioned for a foul on Taylor, his second offence of the 15 minutes. Anderson planted a header wide from a corner kick on 16 minutes for the visitors after some good movement prior to the delivery.
Ched EVANS found an equaliser on 22 minutes when his shot from the edge of the box took a huge deflection and sent goalkeeper Luke McGee the wrong way.
The visitors made it 2-1 on 25 minutes and again it was a huge deflection, O'NEIL's strike from distance looping off a defender and nestling into the corner. Fulton did well to deal with a powerful drive from Taylor on 41 minutes after the striker wriggled into space 25-yards from goal.
Coulthirst couldn't divert a low Da Silva Lopes cross towards goal after a wonderful link up with Taylor on 32 minutes as Posh came close to levelling the scores.
With the seconds ticking down before the interval, Posh found a leveller and what a leveller it was too, Gwion EDWARDS with a stupendous strike into the top right hand corner leaving goalkeeper Fulton clutching at thin air.
Taylor saw a shot blocked by the wall and then Edwards was denied by Fulton after a tricky run saw him ghost past two defenders. On 55 minutes, Posh got themselves in front and what a goal it was too, Nichols picked out TAYLOR and his first time effort crashed into the back of the net.
Coulthirst was immediately denied by Fulton as Posh pushed for a fourth goal. However, Jay O'Shea was a whisker away from an immediate response, but his curler cleared the upright.
Bostwick was cautioned for a foul on Evans on 62 minutes as the visitors broke at pace. Posh made it 4-2 on 65 minutes as Taylor timed his pass perfectly and NICHOLS took a touch and then fired past Fulton and into the back of the net.
Manager McCann immediately made a change with George Moncur replacing Coulthirst. Beesley clipped the bar with a glancing header on 69 minutes as the Spireites came close to reducing the arrears in this crazy game.
Daly was cautioned for a horrible looking challenge on Nichols on 80 minutes. Hughes saw a skidding free-kick tipped around the post by Fulton on 81 minutes. It was 5-2 moments later though as substitute Moncur picked out BOSTWICK on the edge of the box and you just knew where it was heading, into the bottom corner.
Inman was cautioned with his first involvement in the game - literally seconds after his introduction as a substitute.
Nathan Oduwa replaced the excellent Edwards on 87 minutes as McCann made his third change of the afternoon. Inman guided a shot wide of the target after a wonderful cross by Taylor as the game moved into the final four minutes of stoppage time.
