Youngster James Goode was on target as the Posh reserve side recorded a comfortable win at St. Neots.
The Peterborough United reserve side recorded an emphatic 5-1 victory at St. Neots Town on Tuesday evening with striker Tom Nichols completing 75 minutes following his deadline day move from Exeter City.Souleymane Coulibaly and Andrew Fox both netted twice as Posh took control after the break with youngster James Goode also on target.
The home side made a bright start with Tom Meechan firing a free-kick into the wall and then strike partner Dan Lewis heading over following a decent left-wing centre.
The deadlock was broken on 12 minutes as Souleymane COULIBALY collected a driven pass with a fine first touch and then fired low into the bottom corner past goalkeeper Jackson.
Leonardo Da Silva Lopes saw a left-foot shot gathered by Jackson but moments later, St Neots were close to a leveller as Meechan rounded Henry, but somehow Harry Beautyman got back to clear off the line.
From the resulting corner kick, Anton crashed a header against the bar as the non-league side showed they had plenty of ability going forward.
Adil Nabi curled a shot wide from 25-yards on 22 minutes after he demonstrated good quick feet to create a bit of space for the effort.
Hobbs curled a shot over the bar on 28 minutes as the home side continued to create a few shooting opportunities for themselves against a makeshift Posh defence.
Da Silva Lopes nodded the ball into the path of new signing Tom Nichols moments later, but the former Exeter City man saw his low shot saved by the legs of Jackson.
A long ball forward from Anton picked out the lively Meechan on the half hour, but his powerful volley cleared the crossbar.
On 35 minutes, the hosts drew themselves level as a poor clearance from Da Silva Lopes only reached DAWKIN who swept the ball home with his left-foot.
Less than 60 seconds later, Coulibaly had the ball in the back of the net as Jackson spilled a cross from Nichols, but referee Mr Hair spotted an infringement and ruled out the goal.
Coulibaly had the ball in the back of the net on 50 minutes, but a dubious offside decision ruled it out. The same player skied an effort over the bar moments later after good work from Maddison down the left.
Just before the hour mark, Posh got themselves back in front as a superb delivery from a corner kick by Maddison was met by substitute GOODE who saw his header creep over the line before it was scrambled clear.
On 62 minutes, Posh extended their advantage as a driven corner from Maddison was met by Andrew FOX who fired home with his left-foot from around 12 yards.
Posh made it 4-1 on 71 minutes as a superb pass from Nichols picked out COULIBALY and he produced a fine clipped finish over the advancing keeper for his second of the evening.
A trio of substitutes were introduced with 15 minutes remaining, Maddison, Da Silva Lopes and Nichols the men replaced. With 10 minutes remaining, FOX grabbed his second of the evening as he forced his way into the box and unleashed a powerful drive into roof of the net.
