Recent signing Aaron Williams netted his first Posh goal as the reserves beat Nuneaton.
The Peterborough United reserve team beat Nuneaton Town 6-3 in a friendly fixture on a wet and windy afternoon at the Mick George Training Academy on Wednesday.
Striker Aaron Williams, a recent signing from Nuneaton, scored his first Posh goal in the contest which was entertaining throughout.
Souleymane Coulibaly opened the scoring, firing home at the back post after good work from Adil Nabi and Jordan Nicholson down the left.
The visitors equalised with a close-range header and goalkeeper Dion-Curtis Henry needed to be at his best to keep out a powerful header following a right-wing corner kick.
With the scores level at the interval, it was Posh who seized the initiative at the start of the second half as Williams converted from close-range after Coulibaly had seen his fierce drive spilled by the keeper.
Moments later, Posh led 3-1 as a superb corner from Fox was flicked past his own goalkeeper at the near post. The visitors provided an immediate response as Posh scored an own goal of their own.
Substitute Jonny Edwards scored a superb fourth, cutting inside onto his right-foot from 30-yards and unleashing a curler which nestled into the back of the net via the inside of the post.
Adil Nabi struck the crossbar with a dipping volley but from the rebound, Nicholson bundled the ball over the line. The visitors produced an immediate reply with a close-range finish, but Posh added a late sixth through Fox who collected a pass from Callum Chettle and fired low into the corner.
Henry tipped a fierce effort onto the crossbar while Fox came close to a seventh but saw his header saved.
Posh: Henry, Adebayo-Rowling, Goode, Trialist, Fox, Nicholson, Nabi, Chettle, Coulibaly (sub Edwards), Williams, Da Silva Lopes (sub Lee).
