Posh boss Grant McCann has confirmed that the majority of his squad will play 45 minutes at Boston.
Peterborough United manager Grant McCann has confirmed that he will be playing two different XIs for each half of the opening pre-season friendly of the campaign at Boston United on Saturday (3pm).
McCann has also confirmed that summer signing Gwion Edwards, defender Michael Smith and midfielder Jermaine Anderson will not be involved at the Jakeman's Stadium.
Edwards has a tight thigh, Smith is nursing a niggle in his back while Anderson will play his first game against Norwich after his rehabiliation from a long-term injury.
Youngster Cameron Gow will feature alongside a 16-year-old left-back while Tom Nichols has been named in the travelling party, the striker has recovered from his summer lay-off with a knee injury.
"For me, it is all about fitness," McCann said. "The players have worked very hard in the opening two weeks of pre-season, there have been a lot of tough sessions including on Friday, but I have been pleased with how the players have applied themselves.
"We will play two different XIs for each half against Boston and then on Monday evening at Boreham Wood we will do the same. Then the players will play an hour against Norwich City at the ABAX Stadium next Saturday.
"We have one or two who won't be involved as they have slight knocks, so I will be taking a couple of youngsters to Boston and they will feature," McCann said.
The fixture with Boston is a testimonial for long-serving Pilgrims secretary John Blackwell. Posh fans will be accommodated in the Jakemans (Town End) Stand.
