Posh A side beaten 3-1 by Southampton counterparts.
Posh A went into this game on a back off a good result in their last fixtures winning 2 out of 2. The game started well for both teams and both teams looked positive in possesion and looked like they could be dangerous.
Posh had set up a little deeper than Southampton and were allowing Southampton to have a lot of the ball but without much joy. Posh setting up using a box to defend which they were doing very well. However the Saints took advantage with the use of their possession from a corner which was given as Bland was forced into a good save.
The Saints punished an unorganised Posh team from the corner playing the ball across the goal for a player to score bottom corner, Posh were not set up early and it proved costly as they went a goal down.
Posh failed to react to the disappointment of conceding a goal and not long after Southampton scored another from the parry again from Bland saving.
At half time Posh found themselves deflated due to a number of incidents and losing a key player due to attitude. However, after half time Posh looked the brighter out the two teams. They starting moving the ball quicker and their rotation system started causing Southampton problems.
With Mucklin in goal and a player down Posh were put on the backfoot however it must have fired the players up as the game had changed and Posh took control of the match and looked very attacking. Posh went to Fly GK with Mucklin playing as the Fly. The Fly became an advantage for the Blue's as they were strecthing Southapton out, meanwhile Brant received the ball in a wide area and took a positive touch forward which beat his defending player. He delivered a superb ball across the goal for Gray to tap in.
Posh now looked eager to grab a point from the game and looked like they could do so with four minutes remaining and Posh on the front foot. They had to handle a blow when Mucklin was playing fly with no one sitting for the Posh. Southampton won the ball and had time to drive towards the Posh goal and pass it into the net which sealed all three points for the Saints. Overall a game that was easily winnable for the Posh however we had taken far too long to come alive.
Posh: Bland, Gale, Brant, Powell, Nassanculo, Mucklin, Gray.
