Posh Ladies suffer cup defeat to PNS.
In a hard fought physical encounter, the Peterborough United Ladies failed to make it into the quarter-finals of the Northamptonshire Women's Cup losing 3-1 to PNS.
PNS, who play a division higher than the Posh side, capitalised early to take a 1-0 lead from a free kick. Further pressure from PNS made it 2-0. However a sending off from one of the PNS players just before half time reduced the opposition to 10 ladies.
That didn't seem to trouble the PNS who took a 3-0 lead early in the second half when a shot from distance beat the Posh goalkeeper. Despite the score line the Posh Ladies continued to press forward and look for an opportunity to score. It came in the 70th minute when Bryony Fox, who had come on as a substitute, kept her cool in a one on one situation with the PNS goalkeeper to score and make it 3-1.
The Posh Ladies continued to probe and make headway but couldn't break down some resolute defending from PNS. For the Posh Ladies this was a challenging game against higher placed opposition. Credit to all the Ladies in the Squad for their battling performance!
