Posh Ladies suffer narrow defeat to PNS in cup.
For 88 minutes the Posh Ladies matched their higher ranked opponents PNS, but ultimately conceded two late goals to crash out of the Cup competition.
Posh started brightly with the combination of Bryony Fox and Eleanor Boothman pressing and causing problems for the PNS defenders. Both sides were probing for weaknesses and it was from PNS pressure that lead to their striker hitting the cross bar in the first half.
In the second half PNS continued to push forward committing their third defender in midfield but despite continued pressure the Posh Ladies's defence kept their shape and were able to stop any meaningful shots on goal.
Unfortunately an error of judgment gifted PNS their goal in the 88th minute and a mis timed tackle in the 89th minute led to a penalty which was well taken to make it 2-0.
This was the first time that the Posh Ladies had suffered two consecutive losses (albeit against the same team), but their never say die attitude was there for everyone to see. The Ladies will come back stronger and all of us involved with the team will be looking forward to their next encounter with PNS!
