Posh A team open with a 4-2 defeat to Norwich City.
Posh A opened the season with a tough clash against Norwich A, but following a controversial contest, were beaten 4-2. Posh were looking to take all three points away from the fixture. Posh started the fixture very strong keeping the ball and moving it very quick, with a different style of play from last year.
Posh looked good doing this however Norwich slowly, however they found themselves a goal down from a free kick which was won by the ball being played into the pivot. Nassunculo converted the free kick through a toe poke finish.
Posh were then caught on the ball as the wide players were not receiving it beyond their markers and the ball was cut out and Norwich went through and scored. This made the match level at half time. Norwich grew into the game very quickly after half time and found themselves 2-1 up from a style of play Norwich seem to play all year from a long ball forward into their pivot who received it on the left hand side and placed into the bottom corner.
Norwich increased their lead soon after, a clear foul on a Posh player was not given, Norwich then attacked as Posh players switched off and a solo run from the Norwich player concluded with a fine shot into the top corner. Posh were then given a penalty due to Norwich player handling in the box. Nassunculo converted well into the bottom corner. The game was now very open and both teams pressed, however Posh were caught on the counter attack, Bland came out to make great tackle on the outside of the area however was very unfortunate as the ball fell to a Norwich’s attackers feet who finished well to give the win for the yellows with seconds remaining.
