Poor Posh suffer deserved home defeat to AFC Wimbledon.
Peterborough United suffered a 1-0 defeat to AFC Wimbledon at the ABAX Stadium as Grant McCann's men were second best to a side in excellent form at present. The deadlock was broken on 11 minutes and it was a simple goal in it's execution, a deep corner kick from Francomb was nodded back across goal and Tom ELLIOTT had the simple task of nodding home from close-range.
Taylor headed over a Da Silva Lopes cross just after the quarter hour mark as Posh tried to assert themselves on the fixture after a sloppy opening 15 minutes.
Posh had a lucky escape on 20 minutes after another Francomb corner was met by a Wimbledon head, this time Whelpdale, his powerful header was somehow kept out by McGee before Baldwin blocked the rebound.
Francomb was a whisker away from making it 2-0 after some shambolic defending at the back from Posh as they wasted at least three opportunities to clear.
Reeves was next to test McGee after more poor defending as Posh tried to stay in a game they were second best in. McGee denied Elliott as he raced clear on goal before the former Cambridge man saw his rebound smack the post and rebound back into the keeper's arms.
Shea made his first save of the contest on 42 minutes as he made a routine stop to deny a low Chettle effort after a good turn from Taylor to see him get past Whelpdale.
Grant McCann made a change at the break with Gwion Edwards replacing Chettle. Shea made a decent stop to deny Nichols on 56 minutes as the striker cut inside onto his right-foot.
Posh made a second change on 70 minutes with George Moncur replacing Forrester. Elliott was desperately unlucky not to make it 2-0 on 73 minutes after McGee found himself in no mans land, but his lob from 30-yards hit the inside of the post and looped into the arms of the grateful keeper.
Taylor sent a delicate chip inches past the post for the visitors as the Dons came close to a second once again.
