Posh Ladies continue fine form with a 1-0 victory over Corby Town Ladies at the weekend.
Peterborough United Ladies continued their excellent run of form with a comfortable 1-0 win over Corby Town Ladies. The Ladies started well with the midfield dominating possession assisted by a confident back three.
Corby Town sought to contain the Ladies by defending in numbers and hoping to catch the opposition by a counter-attack. The warning signs were there for Corby when both Kier Perkins and Emily Smith went close for Peterborough United Ladies.
The breakthrough came in the 40th minute when a mazy run from Emily Smith saw her lay a ball onto D’Lacy Phillips who fired a right footed shot from 25 yards and over the head of the Corby goalkeeper.
The second half saw the introduction of Jess Driscoll for Imogen James who had suffered a knock to her neck. Peterborough United continued to dominate but despite some close calls the Corby defence prevailed.
This was an entertaining game where the commitment of all the players was evident.
Player of the Match was Jenna Lusk.
