Posh make the trip to Roots Hall on Tuesday evening in Sky Bet League One action.
Peterborough United travel to Roots Hall to face Southend United in Sky Bet League One action on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) with Grant McCann’s men determined to end a recent mini poor run of form, which has seen the club lose three league fixtures in a row.
The Shrimpers have lost their two league matches and conceded seven goals in the process and as a consequence have slipped into the bottom half of the league table. A win for Posh could see them end the evening in the play-off positions with a game in hand on the majority of their rivals in the division.
TEAM NEWS
Posh boss Grant McCann confirmed that midfielder Michael Doughty is still struggling with a back spasm that kept him out of the 1-0 defeat to Gillingham. McCann confirmed that the issue had eased on Friday, but has got worse over the weekend and will be assessed over the next 24 hours. Striker Junior Morias is the only other confirmed absentee.
Shrimpers experienced centre back Anton Ferdinand is suspended for the game after he was sent-off following the final whistle after a 4-1 defeat at Doncaster Rovers. He was handed a two-match ban and served the first of those matches at the weekend when they were beaten 3-0 at promotion-chasing Wigan Athletic.
MCCANN QUOTES
“We had a meeting with the players on Sunday and the performance on Saturday is dealt with and we are looking forward to this game at Southend. The games come thick and fast at this level and we have an immediate chance to put thing right. Southend is always a tricky place to go, they have an experienced manager, but they have lost their last two matches.”
