Posh back in action at the ABAX Stadium on Saturday as Blackpool visit.
Peterborough United welcome in-form Blackpool to the ABAX Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as Steve Evans’ men look to consolidate their position at the top of the Sky Bet League One table.
The Tangerines are unbeaten in 10 and have yet to concede a goal away from home in the league, that form underlined by an excellent Carabao Cup victory over Championship side Queens Park Rangers at Bloomfield Road in mid-week.
TEAM NEWS
Posh boss Evans confirmed that defender Tyler Denton and midfielder George Cooper are both struggling with knocks and are unlikely to feature at the weekend. Ryan Tafazolli and Rhys Bennett have both overcome injuries sustained in the 4-2 win over Gillingham.
Former Salford defender Michael Nottingham is pushing for a start after a superb display in that win over QPR. He has been on the bench in recent weeks for the Seasiders. Nathan Delfounso is expected to return to the starting line-up after dropping down to the bench midweek while ex-Luton Town front man Mark Cullen should lead the line.
FROM THE GAFFER
“Blackpool are in really good form, they don’t concede away from home in the league and they beat a strong QPR side in the cup during the week. Gary Bowyer assembled a really good squad before his departure and Terry McPhillips has been waiting for his opportunity and made an excellent start. It will be a tough nut to crack, but we have been working hard in training this week in preparation for this game,” Evans said.
FROM THE OPPOSITION
“Now with the two results we can go into the game against Peterborough full of confidence. We’ve got nothing to lose. We know they’re a good side but we’re a good side as well and we can cause them problems,” Blackpool midfielder Jay Spearing said.
