Peterborough United SLO Chris Abbott talks about some important issues ahead of the festive period.
The seasons seems to by flying by and we are very quickly coming up to the hectic Christmas Period! More about that in a bit!
There has been much talk and conversation regarding the Ivan Toney Chant and its inappropriate nature, the three supporter’s groups have had some discussions on this and were in unanimous agreement that they felt the chant was inappropriate and unnecessary. We are through the excellent schools’ initiative trying to get the next generation of fans into the Weston Homes Stadium and we hope you appreciate that we don’t want anything happen that could ruin that matchday experience.
The FA Cup rewarded us with a trip to Burnley, I know there has been a lot of frustration shown with the 12:30pm kick off time and trust me I share your frustration! It is out of control of the Football Club as were one of the matches selected for International broadcasting rights. I know the management and team will certainly appreciate your support on the day.
Talking of matchday experience we were delighted to read our first report from the EFL Family Excellence programme that arrived during the week. They choose a match and then attend as secret shoppers and rate the experience. Overall the club received a mark of 9 out of 10, with particular mention being given to Peter’s Burrow, First Time Fans Experience and overall Staff Engagement. This report was testament to the hard work going on behind the scenes to enhance the match day experience.
We now move into the Christmas period at the match v Bolton will see us have our Christmas Fayre in the Fanzone and we hope you will be able to pay this a visit prior to the match. Tuesday evening will see the Junior Posh Xmas Party and we look forward to seeing many young Posh fans there.
On Thursday I will join the Posh Players and Staff in the annual visit to the Childrens Ward at Peterborough Hospital. I cannot speak highly enough of this visit which brings some ray of light and plenty of smiles to these youngsters and families in what can be a difficult time over Christmas.
Last of all, may I take this opportunity to wish you and your families and great festive period.
Chris
