Peterborough United’s Supporter Liaison Officer Chris Abbots writes his first blog for the official website.
Where has the summer gone! It doesn’t seem five minutes since we finished the season at home to Burton Albion and as I write these we are exactly one month away from the opening game with Fleetwood!
Let’s talk fixtures, I think it’s fair to say us Posh fans have been disappointed with the fixture scheduling over the past few seasons. But this year has seen the best set of fixtures for a number of seasons. The Christmas period in particular looks an exciting time with Doncaster at home followed by trips to Rotherham and Lincoln. It is always good to get some big games early in the season and the visits of Ipswich and Sunderland will I’m sure attract big home crowds. Not forgetting a trip to the North East over the Easter Weekend, which I’m sure many fans will take the opportunity to spend a night or two sampling the local night life!
I have been in regularly contact with the club over the summer and it is fantastic to see season ticket sales are up on this time last year. I have always said we have a fantastic loyal support home and away but for the future on the club it is vital we build on that support and the free season tickets for under 12s has been a great incentive by the club and I am pleased to report there has been a fantastic uptake on this. I look forward to meeting many of our young fans on 30th July at the training ground. The Schools programme continues to grow with the target this year of visiting 150 schools throughout the season and it will be good to see the Motorpoint full again when these schools have the opportunity to visit us throughout the season.
Match Day ticket prices is always a topic for discussion and I am pleased to see that the club have frozen these for 19/20 season. With the 10 match flexi ticket now in operation as well, there are plenty of money saving ways to support the Posh in the up and coming season.
We are currently finalising our plans to improve our support engagement and match day experience for this season and I will share more details with you in my next blog in a couple of weeks’ time.
