Posh head to the Lamex Stadium to face Stevenage on Saturday in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.
Peterborough United make the relatively short journey to the Lamex Stadium on Saturday afternoon to face Sky Bet League Two side Stevenage in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup (3pm).
After two defeats in the league, manager Darren Ferguson will be hoping a change of competition can bring a change in fortunes and the Posh players will be backed by a sizeable away support for the clash with Mark Sampson’s men.
TEAM NEWS
The Posh boss confirmed in the pre-match press conference that George Boyd is a huge doubt for the game with a knee problem. The former Stevenage man has not been ruled out as yet, but youngster Harrison Burrows has been added to the squad.
Stevenage could give former Posh front man Craig Mackail-Smith a start in attack, while Tyler Denton should start at left-back. The two sides met during pre-season with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
FROM THE GAFFER
“It is a different competition and that always brings a bit of freshness and it is a tie that I am looking forward too. We have faced Stevenage quite a bit in our recent history and it is always a difficult place to go. They have improved of late after changing their manager but the onus is on us and what we can do to affect the game,” Darren Ferguson said.
