Tommy Robson will be the guest speaker at upcoming senior citizen event.
Peterborough United legend Tommy Robson has confirmed he will speak at the upcoming senior citizen event at the Weston Homes Stadium on Monday 30th September (12pm-2pm) in the Caroline Hand Executive Suite.
The event, which is free to attend for senior citizens, also includes tea/coffee. Press Officer and organiser Phil Adlam said: “The football club were saddened to hear that Tommy has been diagnosed with motor neurone disease and will do everything we can to support him. We have been in regular contact with him and he is very much looking forward to speaking at this event.
“These monthly events have proved popular and we are committed to continuing for the forthcoming campaign with the support of Peter Lane, who has been fantastic in securing our speakers. I am sure that Tommy will have some wonderful tales of his playing days and his connection to the football club ever since. We hope that it is a well-attended event and look forward to welcoming fans.”
Tommy, speaking to the Peterborough Telegraph about his diagnosis, said: "It's all come as a shock, as I've always been so active. But I am going to fight it for as long as I can. I've always done that. I thought I was a goner six years ago when I had a heart attack but I came through it.”
