Read the latest thoughts of Supporters’ Liaison Officer Chris Abbott in Blog number 5!
Since my last blog, form on the pitch has certainly improved and apart from last week’s slight blip at Doncaster we have been in a fantastic run of form. I would like to offer on behalf of the supporters congratulate Marcus Maddison on his Player of the Month award; a thoroughly deserved award for sure.
A Football Club is the heart and soul of any community and at Peterborough United there is a commitment from the top, down to the bottom to embrace and engage with the local community, this is seen through our excellent schools’ initiative as well as the excellent work of the foundation. This week our community was rocked by the news regarding Thomas Cook and I am sure we had many Posh fans as well as the wider community that worked or at some point worked for the company expressing their sadness at the closure.
It was fantastic to see the Club support them by offering them free tickets for the AFC Wimbledon match. But it wasn’t just the Football Club that have supported those affected and I must say a big thank you to the whole community that has really pulled together in the last week and really does show what a great city we have.
I, like many other supporters, were shocked and saddened to hear the heart breaking news from Tommy Robson last week. Legend is a word extremely overused in football but one thing is for sure, Tommy is a legend at our football club, but even more important than that, Tommy is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. The club, along with the supporters’ groups are doing everything they possibly can to assist Tommy and I am sure like many of you we will support these events and ultimately support Tommy.
The new scoreboard has been in operation for the last couple of games and I hope that it enhances the match day experience for you.
