Darren Ferguson has paid tribute to Tommy Robson, who sadly passed away on Thursday afternoon.
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson has expressed his condolences to the family of Tommy Robson. Robson passed away aged 76 on Thursday afternoon.
“I want to send out my thoughts and condolences to Tommy’s family. My thoughts are with them at this moment.
“I knew Tommy for a very long time, all the way back to my first spell at the club. He was a great man, a really nice guy, one of the nicest guys you will meet, I know a lot of people have said that, but it really is genuinely true.
“What I loved about Tommy was he always kind of knew when you were going through a bad spell, as you do as a manager. He always had a word with you, lifted you up, even if it was just a sentence, he was such a positive guy and it made an impact.
“He was a true gentleman off the pitch and a fantastic player on it. He has been a truly incredible ambassador for this football club and will be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to his friends and family at this incredibly difficult time."
Goalkeeping Coach Mark Tyler, who is second in the club’s all-time appearance list to Tommy, added: “I would like to add my condolences to Tommy’s friends and family at this difficult time. Tommy was a wonderful guy, someone who always remained positive and it was a pleasure to spend time with him.”
