Idris Kanu has been called up to Sierra Leone for the first time and could feature in a vital qualifier.
Peterborough United winger Idris Kanu has been named in the Sierra Leone squad for a forthcoming AFCON qualifier against Benin on 14th June.
It is the first call-up for the Posh youngster, who qualifies for the country through his parents. He has described the call-up as an ‘incredibly proud moment’ and he is hopeful of featuring in a crucial qualifying fixture against Benin.
“I am really happy to represent my country. It is a proud moment for my family. It has been 26 years since we have been in the African Cup of Nations, so hopefully we can make history when we face Benin,” Kanu said.
