Posh make the trip to in-form Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.
Peterborough United make the trip to the Pirelli Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One action (3pm), facing one of the division’s in-form teams in Burton Albion, who have moved away from the drop zone following the appointment of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Posh go into the fixture on the back of a 0-0 draw at Oxford United on Tuesday evening, a point that kept the club at the top of the table, with a three-point buffer to those chasing down Darren Ferguson’s men.
The Brewers have enjoyed some very positive results of late, including a 1-0 success over Bristol Rovers and include former Posh defender Michael Bostwick in their ranks, as well as Colin Daniel, who also played for the club.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of midfielder Jack Taylor, who is sidelined for a further five weeks with a hamstring injury. Defender Ronnie Edwards is due back by the end of the month as he recovers from a muscular injury. Striker Jonson Clarke-Harris is 50-50 after picking up an injury at the Kassam Stadium, while several other first team regulars are nursing knocks.
Burton are unable to play on-loan Ryan Broom who is ineligible as he is on-loan at the Pirelli Stadium from Posh. Kane Hemmings, who scored twice against Posh earlier in the campaign, is expected to lead the line.
FROM THE GAFFER
“It is quite a tight pitch and Burton are a high energy team, so first and foremost, we need to match those levels, but I have confidence the players can do that. Physically they look good and continue to end games strongly. I have watched a number of Burton’s recent performances and they have been very good, they are tough to break down, very well organised and a threat. They are one of the in-form teams in the division, so we are under no illusion that it will be a tough test for us,” Darren Ferguson said.
