The Ladies face Long Eaton United at Grange Park on Sunday afternoon.
Peterborough United Women’s travel to Grange Park to face fellow FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands side Long Eaton United on Sunday afternoon in the first round of FA Women’s National League Cup.#
Chloe Brown’s side has the opportunity to step aside from domestic league action after a frantic start to the season, including four games in two weeks and picking up five points in the process, to begin their cup journey this weekend.
In a rare scenario, the Ladies will face Long Eaton United in the opening round of the League Cup after only facing them last weekend in a National League fixture, which saw an 88th-minute equaliser from Stacey McConville salvage a point for Posh.
Team News
Defender Hollie Lewis (ankle) remains out for this weekend league cup tie against Long Eaton, but hopes to return to the training pitch later in the month. Sophie Powell returned to training on Wednesday but will not be involved on Sunday, with Katie Cooper remaining in-between the sticks, while Jess Driscoll will also be available after missing last Sunday game against the opponents.
From the Gaffer
“The League Cup presents its only challenges, one defeat and that’s the end of your cup run, so it’s a different game for us. We do want to focus on the league this season, that's our priority to make sure we’re establishing ourselves there, but everyone loves a cup run and can help build that momentum going into the league.”
“We expected them to come here on Sunday and be a tough encounter, and they were. It will be no different this weekend when we travel to Grange Park. We drew with Long Eaton last weekend, and there will be lessons we learnt from that, hopefully taking them into Sunday and apply those lessons into the game this weekend.”
