The Women welcome Lincoln City Women to Idverde training ground on Wednesday night (7:45pm).
After three consecutive weekends on the road, Peterborough United Women return to Idverde Training Ground for the first-time in a month as they entertain Lincoln City Women in a FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands fixture on Wednesday evening (7:45pm).
Chloe Brown side recorded an emphatic victory on Sunday at Solihull Moors to end a run of five games without a win, running out comfortable 6-2 winners at the Abacus Lighting Community Arena with six different goalscorers.
Lincoln City Women have had a great start to their 2021/22 campaign in the FA Women’s National League, currently sitting third in the table after picking up 12 points out of 15 and will come into tomorrow’s game full of energy after a two-week break.
Team News
Not much has changed in terms of availability of players for Brown, as Hollie Lewis continues to build-up match fitness on the training but won’t be available to face her former side while Piper O’Neill is set to face a few weeks on the side-lines. Sophie Powell will be welcome back into the matchday squad tomorrow evening after featuring in the last two games for the reserve side.
Beatriz Borque will be keen to cement her spot at left-wing after an impressive performance on Sunday as she opened her account for the season. Keir Perkins opening goal against Solihull Moors sees her top the goalscoring charts in the division, with six goals in six games.
From the Gaffer
“Sunday was a great turnaround from last weekend, the performance we put into the end of the Leek Town defeat was extended into Sunday and we really upped the tempo and controlled the game, so it was a brilliant victory. Hopefully Sunday’s performance is something we can now build on and not just a one-off display, especially with two important games at home this week, starting with Lincoln City Women on Wednesday. For us, we just want to build on this momentum and maintain that positivity into this week.“
