It was hard work, but for striker Pemi Aderoju, the opportunity to spend some time away with the first team was hugely beneficial for his development.
Both manager Darren Ferguson and chairman Darragh MacAnthony hinted in interviews with Posh+ this week that young striker Pemi Aderoju may continue his development away from the Weston Homes Stadium on-loan once pre-season is completed, but for now, the powerful front man is just focussed on improving day by day in training.
The former Biggleswade man spent time away with the first team during the training camp in Spain and although he didn't feature in the pre-season friendly defeat to AFC Wimbledon on Friday night, he loved every minute of the experience.
"I enjoyed the trip away, it was really beneficial for me, don't get me wrong it was tough at times, but to spend so much time in this environment can only be good for me.
"A lot of this week first and foremost has been about the fitness element of it, getting minutes back in the legs, but obviously the intensity of first team training is something that you have to get used too.
"Trips away like the one we have just been on is great for the training on the pitch, but it is really key for how you develop relationships off the pitch because you spend a lot of time together.
"It has been a good journey so far, but my focus is on working hard every single day, doing what I need to do to improve my game. I am working as hard as I possibly can to try and break through.
"I know there will be opportunities in pre-season in the games that we have coming up, I just have to get my head down, take those chances when they come my way and see what happens."
