Pemi Aderoju continued his fine recent goal-scoring form with a second half equaliser as the under 21s earned a point at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Peterborough United under 21s picked up a hard-fought point from their latest Professional Development League fixture as a second half effort from the in-form Pemi Aderoju secured a 2-2 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.
Ryan Semple’s men made a lively start against the Owls and opened the scoring via the boot of winger David KAWA on four minutes. Posh were moving the ball well and producing lots of attacking threat, particularly in transition, but just before the break, the home side found an equaliser following a second phase attack after a corner kick.
Moments after the re-start, the Owls nudged ahead as a shot was kept out by Fynn Talley but Bruno Fernandes was there to tap home the rebound. Posh continued to probe and got their rewards just after the hour mark as ADEROJU found the back of the net.
Semple said: “In moments, our performance was very good, we moved the ball well, caused plenty of problems for the opposition whether that be through the thirds or in wide areas and I think we definitely deserved the point and if any side deserved to win it, I think it was us.
“Pemi took his goal well and that is now four in three for him, so that is good and there were other strong performances too. We have got to keep it going, we have another game just around the corner,” Semple said.
Harley Mills made his comeback as a second half substitute after a spell on the sidelines with concussion. Posh are next in action against Hull City on Tuesday 13th February at the idverde Training Ground.
Posh: Talley, Bodnar, Powell, Fernandez, Van Lier, Thomas, Corbett, Chiha, Aderoju, O’Brien-Brady, Kawa. Subs: West, Mills, Overton, Rose, Lamb.
