Posh Women made it seven wins on the bounce as they secured a late 1-0 victory over Solihull Moors thanks to Renai Bennett heading home in the 98th minute.

It was another soggy Sunday afternoon for Peterborough United Women at Studley Sports Centre, as Jake Poole’s side extended their winning run with a late goal to secure another three points.

Posh commanded the first-half with plenty of opportunities in the opening minutes including an effort from Brown who dragged her shot just wide of the post.

Minutes later, Perkins made a promising cross into Bale, but her ball went over the bar.

Perkins saw her chance blocked by the hosts in a goalmouth scramble before Wilshaw's corner ball found Brown in the box, but her shot skimmed the crossbar on 16 minutes.

Posh kept Freya Upson busy as they continued to dominate possession including Dawbarn firing a shot from distance, Connor heading towards goal and Bale looking to slot home from close range, but the keeper blocked each effort well.

On 40 minutes, Reynolds weaved her way through the middle and sent a shot wide, before Wilshaw flew down the left but hit the woodwork.

Just before the break, Perkins found Sharpe open down the right and curled in a wonderful effort that was saved by Upson.

On 58 minutes, Sharpe threatened again from Wilshaw’s corner ball, but her header was blocked.

The hosts settled more into the game before Meli outpaced her defenders down the right and sent an effort into Bennett, but the midfielder hit the near post.

On 89 minutes, Perkins was played through on goal and fired a shot from inside the box but once again Upson attempted to keep The Moors in the game and parried the ball away.

The keeper soon denied another by blocking Perkins’ shot from close-range; the deflection fell to Reynolds but Upson saved her efforts too.

The hero of the afternoon was Renai BENNETT, who headed home from Reynolds’ corner in stoppage time to claim a late victory over The Moors.

Posh Women are back in action on Thursday evening (7.45pm) where they face their fellow unbeaten side, Loughborough Lightning at Yaxley Football Club for a top-of-the-table clash.
