Goalkeeper Will Blackmore has agreed a new three-year contract with the football club.
Peterborough United goalkeeper Will Blackmore has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract, completing the formalities at the idverde Training Ground on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old, who has made five appearances for the club, including three successive league starts last term, which featured a first senior clean sheet, has committed his long-term future and is determined to fight for the number one shirt this term.
“Firstly, I am delighted to sign the contract, it is another big moment for me in my young career so far. It was great to be involved in the first team last season, make my debut and be given the opportunity to play a few games and this season is about building on that.
“I know that there is a chance for me to show what I can do, and it is up to me now to take that opportunity, train well during pre-season and hopefully put in some good performances in the pre-season games.
“I have been in and around the first team group for several years now, they have welcomed me into the dressing room and while I am quite a loud character anyway, they have helped me. However, whilst it is good to have a bit of banter off the field, on the pitch, I am focussed and driven, I want to learn and I want to keep improving,” Blackmore said.
Manager Darren Ferguson added: “I am delighted that Will has agreed this new contract. I believe he has a lot of potential; he has a bright future ahead of him and he will definitely be challenging for the number one spot this season. I know that Will was pleased to agree the deal and he will play a big part in the squad for the forthcoming campaign and the seasons to come after that.”
Blackmore joined Posh in 2017 and made his debut as a substitute in the 4-1 success at Doncaster Rovers in the promotion-winning campaign in 2021.
