Skipper Harrison Burrows took home three trophies at the club’s End of Season awards on Wednesday evening.
The football club held their End of Season awards at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday evening and skipper Harrison Burrows was the big winner, scooping three of the seven trophies up for grabs in the Men’s category with Poppie Brown taking home two of the four gongs up for grabs in the Women’s category.
In total, 24 awards were handed out across the club with the Posh Women under 23s, Men’s Under 18s and 21s, Women and first team all in attendance. There were three special awards to conclude the night with former Chief Executive Bob Symns a deserving recipient of the Outstanding Contribution to PUFC gong with last year’s winner Barry Fry making the presentation.
The event kicked off with Burrows leading the team into the room with the Bristol Street Motors Trophy before a chat with first team manager Darren Ferguson, who reflected on the success at Wembley, securing a play-off spot with three games to spare and praised his young squad for the way they have performed this season.
After dinner and a chance for guests to have a photo with the trophy, the awards got underway with Men’s Under 18s Lead Phase Coach Jimmy Unwin doing the honours for his squad. Striker Tyler Winters won Goal of the Season for his effort against Birmingham City, Ollie Rose scooped the Player’s Player of the Season while Harley Mills was named the Under 18s Player of the Season.
Alicia Podd won the Posh Women Under 23s Goal of the Season with Edyn Osker winning the Player’s Player of the Season and Rebecca Mears winning the Player of the Season. Under 23s manager Michael Allsebrook was on stage to make the presentation.
Under 21s Lead Phase Coach Ryan Semple handed out the awards in his category with Will Van Lier winning Goal of the Season for his strike against Coventry City, Donay O’Brien-Brady secured the Player’s Player of the Season and James Dornelly was voted as Player of the Season.
Posh Women’s boss Dan Lawlor was next on stage to present four awards with Renai Bennett winning Goal of the Season for her last-minute effort against Northampton Town at the weekend. Neive Corry won the Women’s Community Player of the Season while youngster Poppie Brown was rewarded for a fine campaign with both the Player’s Player of the Season and the Player of the Season.
Ricky-Jade Jones was named the Men’s Community Player of the Season while Malik Mothersille’s superbly taken finish at Blackpool in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy semi-final was voted as the Goal of the Season.
The Men’s Moment of the Season was a new category and was unsurprisingly won by Harrison Burrows for his winner at Wembley Stadium, with Burrows also winning the Junior Posh Player of the Season as voted for by young members.
The Men’s Player’s Player of the Season was an incredibly tight vote, but was eventually won by top scorer Ephron Mason-Clark, while the foreverposh Young Player of the Season was Ronnie Edwards as he followed him the win at the EFL awards with another big gong.
The foreverposh Away Travel Player of the Season, as voted for by supporters using the official coach travel, was midfielder Archie Collins with George O'Leary making the presentation. George was also on stage to present Harrison Burrows with the big award of the night, the foreverposh Player of the Season as voted for by supporters.
Long-serving Academy physiotherapist Loz Clarke was presented with a special trophy to mark his Long Service with assistant manager Kieran Scarff on stage to do the honours. The Unsung Hero award was won by Wayne Daly, aka Peter Burrow, for his superb work both as the club’s mascot and for what he does behind the scenes.
The event concluded with Fry presenting Symns with the Outstanding Contribution to PUFC Award with the former CEO receiving a standing ovation from over 200 in attendance.
