Driscoll-King puts pen to paper ahead of the new campaign with Posh Women.
Peterborough United Women are delighted to announce that defender Evie Driscoll-King has committed her future with the club, agreeing terms ahead of the 2023/24 FA Women’s National League campaign.
Driscoll-King, who joined the club in January 2022, has become the latest player to put pen to paper, with Niamh Connor, Elloise Copson, Jess Evans, Neive Corry and Rosie Axten all agreeing terms with the club for the first time in their careers.
The defender, who has made 37 appearances across her 18-month spell at the club, reflected on an impressive past season and was delighted to be presented with the opportunity to put pen to paper for the new campaign.
“I’m pleased that the club have that faith in me to hand me this opportunity,” Driscoll-King said. “You don’t see many clubs in this division handing out this opportunity and having this presented to me gives me a massive confidence boost. The club is always progressing and that was a massive factor in me committing my future here for next season.
Driscol-King was awarded the Players’ Player of the Season for the 2022/23 campaign and was delighted to be recongised by her fellow peers and is looking forward to a tough pre-season schedule next month.
“It is great to be recongised by your manager, but to be recongised by your teammates is just a massive confidence boost and just shows that all my effort is paying off. I turn up to games and play where Dan [Lawlor] tells me to, but I think going into the new campaign I’m more of a defensive-minded player after having played in midfield for a little bit at the end of the season.”
“We want the pre-season to be tough, you want to be challenged and have games that allow us as a team to build on. We want to be at the top end of the table and challenge as much as possible, but as a defender, I want to keep as many clean sheets as we can."
