Dan Lawlor strengthens his defensive options with January signing.
Peterborough United Women are delighted to announce the signing of Lincoln City defender Sinead Fletcher for the rest of the 2023/24 FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands campaign.
Fletcher, who has played in all 11 games for fellow FAWNL Division One Midlands side Lincoln City this season, becomes Dan Lawlor’s seventh signing of the 2023/24 campaign and adds further depth to his defence.
The defender, who could make her debut against Sutton Coldfield Town on Sunday, is looking forward to embarking on a new challenge and highlighted the club’s ambition as a driving factor in joining the club.
Fletcher said: “I’m really excited to be here. Dan’s ambition for the club really helped in my decision to come here. I know the club haven’t been in this league for long but they’ve already made progress in the short time they’ve been here. It’s something I want to be a part of.”
“I was at Lincoln for two and a half seasons and played at a few clubs before that. My time at Lincoln was enjoyable but coming to Posh was a personal decision as I want to aim higher.
“I know Muggers (Lucie Mugridge) and have played with her a few times before. Obviously, I’ve played against the girls a few times over the last couple seasons. I’ve trained with them earlier this week and they’ve all been really welcoming.
“I would say I’m a simple defender. I like to play the ball on the floor and keep moving it around. I know the team play quite aggressively which is a part of my game too. I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Fletcher will wear the number 4 shirt for the FA Women’s National League campaign and could be involved in this weekend’s fixture against Sutton Coldfield Town.
