Action between Posh and Lincoln City

Day to forget for Posh as Lincoln City run riot at the LNER Stadium.

This was a dreadful day and there is no real other word to describe the 5-1 defeat at Lincoln City other than dreadful. The Imps had chances to make it even worse for Peterborough United but Darren Ferguson pulled no punches in the post-match interview, labelling the display as 'embarrassing'.

The hosts were always in control, from the moment that Dom JEFFERIES took advantage of all of the space in the penalty area to find the back of the net via what looked like a double deflection.

The Imps made it 2-0 on 35 minutes as Tom BAYLISS produced a stunning free-kick after a foul from Emmanuel Fernandez 28-yards from goal.

Ryan De Havilland struck the crossbar with a well-taken free-kick at the other end, but the Imps were still causing issues going forward.

On 54 minutes, Hayes was penalised for a foul in the box and DRAPER stepped up and converted from the spot.

On the hour mark, Posh pulled a goal back as Lindgren produced a fine turn and cross for substitute Ricky-Jade JONES to manoeuvre the ball into the net from close-range.

Five minutes later though, Lincoln made it four as substitute and former Posh midfielder Ethan HAMILTON got the final touch following a melee in the box.

Substitute James COLLINS made it 5-1 with a clever dink after Posh gave away possession in midfield. Bilokapic denied Collins a second with a smart stop.

Hector Kyprianou saw a looping header tipped over but it was the last action of a desperate day for Posh.
