Bradley Ihionvien celebrates scoring against Gillingham

Bradley Ihionvien climbed off the substitutes bench to bag a debut goal as Posh secured a 2-1 victory at Gillingham.

What a way to introduce yourself to your new supporters! Bradley Ihionvien has had some week. He was on the bus travelling to Accrington with his club Colchester United on deadline day and then suddenly he was in a taxi heading for PE2.

A race against time to get the deal completed was then on the agenda before he had a watching brief 24 hours later as Posh faced Wrexham at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Two training sessions later and he was named on the bench at Priestfield for the first group phase fixture of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy. With 15 minutes to go, he was thumping an unstoppable left-footed strike from 20-yards into the top corner.

Posh made a decent start to the game and opened the scoring on 12 minutes as Ricky-Jade JONES tucked home from close-range after good work in the approach play from Chris Conn-Clarke for his first goal of the campaign.

Webster was kept out by goalkeeper Nick Bilokapic on 23 minutes with the Australian diving to his right to parry the ball to safety.

Bilokapic made another good stop on 40 minutes to keep out an effort from Gbode with O'Brien-Brady firing well wide at the other end moments later.

Jones was denied a second goal on the stroke of half-time by a good save from Ashby-Hammond after clever work from Conn-Clarke.

Gbode fired wide on 72 minutes as the hosts tried to get back into the game but two minutes later it was 2-0 as IHIONVIEN fired a superb effort past the keeper and into the back of the net.

Lapslie was kept out by Bilokapic on 79 minutes before substitute Nolan cut inside onto his left-foot only to fire wide of the near post.

Archie Collins saw a powerful drive kept out by Ashby-Hammond before the hosts provided a late consolation through a header by NEVITT
