Ricky-Jade Jones scored the winner deep into stoppage time to secure three deserved points for Darren Ferguson’s men.
Peterborough United showed against Barnsley that they have a squad full of character and they repeated the feat in front of the live TV cameras on New Years Day as Darren Ferguson’s men recovered from going 1-0 down inside a minute, and 2-1 down in the second half to secure a pulsating 3-2 victory at Derby County.
It was the worst possible start as James COLLINS headed home a cross from the right inside the opening 30 seconds, but Posh never looked like they were on the ropes, in fact minutes later, Ephron Mason-Clark came close to a leveller, but he fired over.
Mason-Clark fired over again on 13 minutes after good work from Harrison Burrows before Posh got the equaliser and it was BURROWS with it, his left-foot strike taking a deflection and finding the bottom corner of the net.
Jones guided a shot wide of the target on 15 minutes while Max Bird fired wide at the other end from long-range. Collins sent a free header straight at goalkeeper Fynn Talley before Kyprianou was cautioned for a foul.
On 42 minutes, Wildsmith produced a fine stop to keep out Joel Randall before Ronnie Edwards saw an effort tipped over after a strong run. Poku saw a low shot gathered by Wildsmith before Randall somehow managed to fire over the top from close-range after good work from Mason-Clark.
On 58 minutes, Derby were awarded a spot-kick as Kyprianou was adjudged to have handled in the area and despite Talley superbly keeping out COLLINS from the spot, the striker was there to convert the rebound.
Poku saw a goalbound volley blocked by Cashin before Mason-Clark drilled a shot wide after cutting inside from the left. Posh drew themselves level on 83 minutes as POKU somehow looped a header into the bottom corner after a delightful delivery from Burrows.
Talley did well to keep out John-Jules on 87 minutes before the real drama. Four minutes of added time was indicated and deep into that stoppage time, Posh grabbed a winner as JONES fired home on the spin as Ferguson’s men kept the ball alive following a bit of a scramble.
