King’s Lynn Soccer Club named as the first Girls Academy partner club.
We are delighted to announce King’s Lynn Soccer Club as Peterborough United Women’s first Girls Academy partner club ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
Partner clubs provide the opportunity for our Girls Academy players to train and play in mixed football, U23 players to dual sign whilst also providing an option to any players leaving the Girls Academy. There will also be a programme of events for the club's coaches and players to participate in, including free entry to selected women’s games as well as CPD coaching opportunities.
Girls Academy Lead, Chloe Brown, is delighted to have the first partner club on board. She said: “Working with partner clubs will enable us to develop a good relationship with a club where our current players can benefit from mixed football or dual signing as well as exit routes for those leaving us. The clubs in turn will get support from us, good exciting players signposted to their teams and CPD opportunities for their coaches.
“It is a mutually beneficial relationship that can only be a positive experience for the players involved at both clubs. I am really excited to get the partnership with King’s Lynn Soccer Club established and look forward to bringing more partner clubs on board to our programme.”
Philip Yates, chairperson at King’s Lynn Soccer Club, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with the club as it's what all clubs look for. We are very much looking forward to referring young players forward to improve and develop their understanding of football further and to work with Posh. The partnership will show current, and future, female players that we are serious about promoting the women's game across the area. This partnership will encourage and attract more female players who want to take their football to the next level. We are looking forward to attending sessions so coaches can aid their development further too."
We are currently looking for four more partner clubs to come on board who are within a 40-mile radius of Peterborough. The clubs will need to meet the below criteria:
- Have a boy’s football team that are open to girls joining in with training and matches.
- Have girls teams across a range of ages.
- Have a women’s team within their club.
- Have a U18s boys team that our 16-18-year-olds players can train with.
