A late winner from Evie Driscoll-King claimed another three points for Posh Women to continue their winning streak.

Peterborough United Women secured a 2-1 victory over Boldmere St Michaels at Abbey Lawn on Sunday afternoon, with Jake Poole’s side extending their unbeaten run in their fourth FAWNL fixture.

Posh faced a competitive Boldmere side but dominated play in the opening portion of the game.

The first notable chance was from Middleton’s cut-back to Reynolds who fired from the edge of the box, but her effort went just inches wide of the near post.

On 21 minutes, Tara KIRK opened the scoring after Bennett sent Middleton through and found Kirk in the box, who slotted home into the bottom corner.

Soon after, Lawlor’s corner caused trouble in the box as Kirk headed towards goal but her attempt was well-blocked- despite Sharpe’s best effort to guide the ball in, her header went past the far post. Moments after, Bennett latched onto a poor clearance from The Mikes’ keeper but her strike from distance skimmed the bar.

Before the break, Perkins made multiple runs down the wings, but neither efforts in to Middleton or Reynolds could find the target with pressure from the visitor’s defence.

Lawlor’s corner ball into a crowded box saw the first clear chance of the second-half, but Posh’s efforts were well-blocked by Whiteman at the near post. Soon after, substitute Bale headed narrowly wide from another corner.

On 78 minutes, Alima ABDALLAH equalised after curling her shot from just outside the box to hit the top netting. A few minutes later, Lawlor fired an effort from 18-yards out but her chance was saved by Whiteman.

DRISCOLL-KING netted a late winner for Posh on 87 minutes thanks to a wonderful corner ball from Wilshaw that found the defender in the perfect place to guide the ball home and secure the three points.

Posh Women have now claimed four wins in four FA National League fixtures, five from five across all competitions.

Jake Poole’s side face Sutton Coldfield Town next Sunday (15th September, 2pm) at Abbey Lawn where they will look to continue their winning streak.
