The Posh Under 21s were beaten 3-2 by Ipswich Town at the idverde Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon with two late goals not enough for Ryan Semple's men.
Bradley Ihionvien and Chris Conn-Clarke both found the back of the net in the last 10 minutes, but it was not enough for the Peterborough United Under 21s as they were beaten 3-2 by Ipswich Town in Professional Development League action on Tuesday afternoon.
Afte a relatively quiet opening to the game, Posh carved out the first opportunity, but Conn-Clarke couldn't keep his effort down after good work from Noah Freeman.
Andre Changunda was denied at the near post by a sprawling save from Williamson before the visitors took the lead as Jamie MAUGE beat the goalkeeper at the near post.
On 28 minutes, Posh won a penalty, but Ihionvien saw his spot-kick go over the crossbar. Ihionvien was denied by Williamson moments into the second half as Posh tried to get back into the game, but moments later they were 2-0 down as MORGAN somehow found the corner from an overhit cross.
Conn-Clarke fired wide after a good run at the other end before Ipswich made it 3-0 with a superb free-kick from BONIFACE.
Smith did well to keep out Boniface before Posh won a second penalty kick as Ihionvien was felled after a good run and turn in the box.
IHIONVIEN stepped up and coolly dispatched the penalty, sending Williamson the wrong way from 12-yards. On 85 minutes, CONN-CLARKE scored a fine individual effort to bring the deficit to just one.
Conn-Clarke saw a curler tipped over in stoppage time as Posh came desperately close to an equaliser.
